THE TRUCKS
See Magazine, Sounding Off by Kirby

The Trucks, to coin a phrase, play clean as country water. This is the band that as Free Spirit backed up Laura Vinson, who decided years ago not to play clubs and bars. So while that act performs at festivals and theatres, The Trucks play every tavern from the Transit Hotel to the Cossack Inn in Spruce Grove.

For this group of players, The Turcks is a vehicle that illustrates their deep knowledge of and passion for tradional roots music. All great session players and sidemen, their own band is a great mix of solid playing with excellent vocals. The Martineau Brothers, Paul on drums and vocals and Dave on guitars and vocals, pair up with Gary Bowman on keyboards and vocals and Fred LaRose on bass and vocals, who play with Rusty Reed and Brent Parkin.

Fronted by LaRose, the band is a good old boy amalgam of their influences. In the fine tradition of The Band, Byrds and Burrito Brothers, there is a variety of organic sounds, instruments like accordion and pedal steel, with those killer vocal harmonies.

The cover tunes are all chosen with impeccable taste; the folks in the bars are happy to two-step to Ry Cooder's
Get Rhythm and waltz to The Byrds' Hickory Winds.

The Trucks are a band with a stellar history confidently creating a fabulous future — look for an album this year.
