THE TRUCKS
This talented and solid four-piece band has been on the road together for more than eighteen years. Their distinctive
sound can encompass the raw-edged drive of such bands as Little Feat or can swing right through to the hard-core
country sounds of Merle Haggard.

The members of The Trucks have extensive and varied musical backgrounds, evident in their sound and their original
music. Their collective experience as session players, touring musicians and recording artists has enabled The
Trucks to take the cream of their past musical endeavours and develop a sound that, along with a handful of other
groups and songwriters, is shaping a bonafide Western Canadian country/blues/roots influenced sound.
Over the past 18 years, members of the group have been involved in some of the most successful recording projects,
television shows, and live performances in this part of the country and have been known to perform under various
pseudonyms as well over the course of two decades.
They were known as the Cranky Brats in the early 90's and performed with and co-produced Jane Hawley's album "As We Walk on Thin Ice". The cut "Mama's Waiting"
was used in the soundtrack for the film "Highway 61" in 1990.
They also co-wrote and co-produced 3 award winning CDs with Laura Vinson as Free Spirit. They twice received awards
for Best Roots, Traditional and Ethnic Band and Album of the Year as Free Spirit along with numerous other industry
awards.
Over the past couple of years it has been common to see The Trucks as the opening act for Prairie Oyster, the late
great Hoyt Axton and Michele Wright to name a few.
These seasoned sidemen and recording artists are pleased to release their own self-titled CD. It has been a long
and welcomed time coming from these road veterans. |
